Why treat septic tanks with Environoc 301?

Septic tanks receive various types of waste daily from toilets, showers, sinks, kitchens, pools, washing machines, and floors. This waste is primarily rich in organic matter and fats. Within drainage systems and septic tanks, billions of bacteria inhabit, which under optimal conditions can degrade these compounds.

Problems arise when layers of grease and sludge accumulate, preventing natural decomposition processes from occurring. This accumulation can lead to the dragging of some materials into the infiltration field, eventually causing septic tank failure.

Substances like bleach, bathroom disinfectants, detergents, toothpaste, and soaps also contribute to reducing the bacteria population, thus disrupting the natural decomposition cycle. Common signs that the decomposition process is failing include foul odors, excessive sludge accumulation, the need for frequent maintenance, and blockages in drainage lines and filtration areas.

BACTERIA FOR SEPTIC TANK

What is Environoc 301?

Environoc® 301 is a powerful environmental inoculant developed by Environoc®, Inc., especially for septic tanks. The product features 29 strains of microorganisms, mostly facultative, capable of degrading the main organic compounds present in wastewater.

Environoc® 301 can be applied in septic tanks of homes, schools, hotels, restaurants, casinos, camps, and generally in any rural or urban location where wastewater is directed to an infiltration field, a pumping station, or a storage tank.

The periodic inoculation of Environoc® 301 has significant benefits: it reduces sludge accumulation (less need for pumping), controls odors, helps keep filtering areas clear, and promotes the removal of BOD and COD. In general, most treated tanks show a significant reduction in sludge accumulation, resulting in future cost savings as fewer pumpings are required.

Microorganisms for septic tank

Composition:

Approximately 1×10^8 bacteria/ml. Environoc® 301 is composed of 29 strains of beneficial live microorganisms with different degradation capabilities: animal and vegetable fats, oils, starches, proteins, and hydrogen sulfide. The carrier is a liquid nutrient based on plant-derived proteins, sugars, and mineral elements.

How Does Environoc® 301 Work?

Environoc® 301 ensures the addition of billions of bacteria with special degradation capabilities. As soon as the application is made, the microorganisms start to multiply and colonize all parts of the system and the septic tank: drains, grease traps, tanks, anaerobic filters, and infiltration fields. These bacteria promote the efficient removal of organic compounds and fats, optimizing the operation of the septic tank.

Dosage:

Homes: 1 gallon every 4-6 months. Farms and vacation houses: 1 gallon during peak occupancy seasons. Hotels, restaurants, casinos, schools, businesses, etc.: Dosages depend on occupancy, the number of bathrooms, the quantity of prepared meals, septic tank design, the presence of manholes, and grease traps. Regular applications (weekly or monthly) are usually scheduled. For more information on dosages and frequencies, please contact the Distributor or the Technical Support Department of Biodyne Costa Rica S.A.

Application method:

Shake the container containing the bacteria. Measure the desired dosage. Distribute the dosage in toilets and drains connected to the septic tank. Once inoculation is done, let water run to ensure bacteria reach drains and the septic tank. It can also be applied directly to the septic tank. BACTERIA FOR SEPTIC TANKS

Important:

For homes, farms, and vacation houses, it is recommended to apply the entire gallon in a single dose. If the septic tank is new or has been pumped recently, use it for 1 – 2 weeks before applying the product so that bacteria can find organic matter to degrade, multiply, and colonize the septic tank. Bacterial treatment is preventive, and it rarely corrects underlying problems such as poor designs, sludge accumulation, damaged filtering areas, or blockages with non-biodegradable materials like plastics.

Other recommendations:

  • Install screens in kitchen sink drains and properly scrape off dishes.
  • The use of garbage disposals is not recommended.
  • Avoid pouring large amounts of disinfectants like sodium hypochlorite down drains. For example, if cleaning a mop or soaking clothes in a high concentration of hypochlorite, it is preferable to pour the liquid in the garden.
  • Water from bathtubs and jacuzzis should be drained into the garden, not the septic tank.
  • Do not flush papers or sanitary napkins down toilets. Use water-saving cisterns.
  • Install water-saving devices on kitchen faucets and in bathrooms. Do not park cars on the infiltration field.
  • Measure the sludge in the tank every 2 years and pump it when necessary. Leave 5% of sludge when pumping the tank.

Warnings:

Environoc® 301 is not toxic, not pathogenic, not caustic, and not corrosive. It does not harm humans, animals, plants, or marine life and is safe to use in any plumbing system. Keep out of reach of children.

Storage:

Room temperature (cool place): 16 weeks. To ensure good viability of microorganisms (count), this product should not be exposed to room temperature for more than 16 weeks. Refrigerated (2-6 degrees Celsius): 6 months.

Notes:

Normally, the inoculum has a strong odor due to the bacteria’s activity inside the container.
